Which One is Right for You?

With so many fitness options to choose from, we know it can be hard to determine which training regimen is best for you. We’ve created this guide to help you weigh the pros and cons of both group fitness classes and personal training sessions.

Group Fitness

Pros

  • Comradery – Group fitness classes allow you to use your friends as a source of motivation. You can push each other to stay motivated and hold each other accountable for skipping or slacking during a workout. No worries if you don’t have a workout buddy; group fitness classes are the perfect place to meet new people that share the same goals as you
  • Excitement – Most people gravitate to group fitness classes simply because they are fun. When you choose to participate in a group fitness class like Zumba, you will find it hard not to have a good time. Zumba classes feature energetic music and lively instructors who love to keep the party going while also making you feel the burn.

Cons

  • Lack of Consistency – One drawback of joining a group fitness course is the lack of consistency. Generally, to keep members interested and engaged instructors like to teach a new routine in each class. While this might make class fun, it may not be ideal for people who enjoy a strict regimen.

Personal Training

Pros

  • Undivided Attention – When you are signing up for individual training, you can expect that your instructor will give you their undivided attention. They will be there to motivate you and supervise your workouts so that you can be sure you’re doing the right exercises to accomplish your goals.
  • Personalized Results – With personal training, you can work with your instructor to develop a custom workout regime that works toward your personal fitness goals. Your instructor will be able to oversee and monitor your progression and make adjustments based on your unique body type and goals.

Cons

  • Schedule Flexibility – One of the only drawbacks of personals training is trying to coordinate your busy schedule with your trainer’s. If you can remain committed to keeping a set training schedule, you won’t have to worry about trying to fit working out in your daily schedule.
