Keeping in shape year round is difficult for most people. Even professional fitness models have had trouble maintaining their workout regimen. Whether you go to the gym twice a week or are there daily, finding the motivation to get up and go sometimes feels like a losing battle. If you feel yourself losing interest in achieving or maintaining your fitness goals, here are a few tips to help you get back on the horse.

    • Take Someone With You – A friend, significant other, co-worker, or just a fellow fitness fan, the buddy system works. It’s scientifically proven that you are more likely to maintain a regimen if you have someone else who is doing it with you. You’re less likely to give up on yourself if it means giving up on someone else too. Working out with someone else strengthens your bond with them as well, you’ll chat in the gym but also have someone else to share in your journey.
    • Learn – When you feel like your routine is either too easy or too boring switch it up. Learn more about the exercises you’re performing and the diet you’re eating to improve what’s already working. There are a wealth of videos, books, articles and other media dedicated to all different forms of fitness.
    • Tune Out The Distractions – Give your ears something to do while your body works. You can listen to an audio book or find the right songs for the right exercises. Your body is able to work with slightly less oxygen when listening to music. The right song can get you through that last rep or that last mile.
    • Break-In New Shoes – Show off your new shoes or new clothes at our Spin Class or anywhere else in the gym. Those new threads help you feel invested in your body and your routine, plus you’ll look great in them after a few weeks of hard work.

Unfortunately, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to finding your motivation. Your reasons for getting in shape are yours, alone. Just remember, you started doing this for a reason, if you need more reasons to continue, try out one or two of the tips on this list.
